I-10/I-49 Emergency bridge overpass repair
Location: Lafayette Parish
Dates: January 2023 – March 2023
Huval and Associates were called upon by the LADOTD to act as main design engineers for the emergency repair of the I-10 eastbound overpass in Lafayette, Lousiana.
The I-10 eastbound overpass was impacted when the 15’6″ vertical clearance was not enough to accomadate an overheight load.
Self-propelled modular transporters were brought in to remove the two damaged prestressed girders from the overpass and install the replacement.
The installation of the replacement section began on March 17, and the I-10 eastbound overpass was fully reopened on March 31, 2023.
